New Volga Returns: Crossover to be Based on Geely Atlas L

The model will be built on the CMA platform

The revived "Volga" brand will present a crossover on the Geely Atlas L platform. The model will be the brand's first mass-produced car after returning to the market.

The Telegram channel "TAGAZ: Auto Journal" published a short video where a crossover with Volga badges was spotted on a car carrier. The car's appearance is completely identical to the Chinese Atlas L, which only went on sale in China in May of this year.

Apparently, the model was built on the modular CMA platform, like the third-generation Atlas, which is already sold in Russia.

However, the new version is noticeably larger — 4730×1910×1710 mm, and the design is made in the brand's signature style, called "Charm of Mountains and Rivers".

In China, the Atlas L is equipped with a choice of two turbo engines — a 1.5-liter (181 hp, 290 N·m) and a 2-liter (218 hp, 325 N·m). Both work with a 7-speed "robot" and front-wheel drive.

Previously, the Chinese car brand Changan was considered as a partner for the new Volgas. In May 2024, a public display of three new Volga cars was held. The exhibited models almost completely repeated the Raeton Plus, X5 Plus and Uni-Z models and were equipped with a 188 hp gasoline engine paired with an automatic 7-speed transmission.
