Li Auto has announced a service campaign for 11,411 electric Mega vehicles manufactured in 2024 due to insufficient anti-corrosion protection of the coolant. According to a notification in the Chinese SAMR (No. S2025M0174V), the recall will begin on November 7, 2025, and affects vehicles manufactured from February 18 to December 27, 2024. Insufficient corrosion inhibition can damage the aluminum cooling plates of the battery and the front motor control unit, which manifests as errors on the dashboard, power limitation, or failure to start. In the most negative scenarios, thermal runaway of the battery is possible.
The company promises to replace the coolant, traction battery, and front engine controller free of charge on all vehicles affected by the recall. Prior to visiting the service center, a cloud-based early warning system is in place: if signs of leakage are detected, the owner will be promptly notified by the "400" hotline and the built-in emergency assistance system, and the vehicle will emit visual and audible signals with a recommendation to stop and wait for assistance. If there are no notifications, the car is considered to be in good working order, but customers are asked to schedule free work "as soon as possible" after receiving an invitation.
The reason for the inspection was a fire involving a Li Mega, which occurred on October 23.
