Premium car brands are ceasing to start in Russia due to probable failures in the operation of electronic systems caused by interference from electronic warfare equipment. This assumption was made by auto expert Evgeny Ladushkin.
He recalled that a car is a complex technical device that lacks warranty support for updating the firmware of electronic units in the country.
Ladushkin clarified that the problem is solved by installing makeshift firmware, but this is unsafe - poor-quality software can lead to engine or electronic unit failure, the delivery time of which often reaches six months or more.
At the same time, official firmware from manufacturers is currently unavailable in Russia due to the lack of distribution.
Earlier, complaints appeared online from owners of Porshe and BMW cars manufactured between 2013–2019. According to them, the cars suddenly stall while driving, after which they do not start, requiring evacuation and reprogramming of electronic control units.
