Fire Breaks Out at Former Volkswagen Plant in Kaluga, Where Tenet Cars Are Assembled

On Wednesday afternoon, January 28, a fire broke out on the territory of the former Volkswagen plant in the Grabtsevo microdistrict of the Kaluga region. The fire was reported by eyewitnesses who published photos from the scene on social networks. The fire area is 4,000 square meters.

Eyewitness footage shows thick black smoke rising above the building. According to local residents, the fire started in one of the production workshops. It is claimed that plastic products initially caught fire, after which the fire spread to the foam used for interior decoration.

At the time of publication, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Kaluga region and representatives of the enterprise had not provided official comments. No one was injured at the plant where Tenet is produced. The fire was successfully brought under control and extinguished. All employees were evacuated from the burning premises, while the cars and personnel were not damaged.

The company has not been inspected for compliance with fire safety rules for two years. The last such inspection came to the enterprise in 2024 and found no violations. The Ministry of Emergency Situations carried out its prevention in the same 2024.
