Volkswagen has announced prices for the new Amarok W600 – the most expensive modification of the pickup for the Australian market. Despite sharing a platform with the Ford Ranger, the new model costs 91,990 Australian dollars (about 5.1 million rubles) excluding road charges, making it even more expensive than the Ford Ranger Raptor.

The second-generation Amarok is produced at the Ford plant in South Africa and is built on the same architecture as the Ranger. However, Volkswagen did not create its own extreme off-road version similar to the Raptor. Instead, the company, in collaboration with the Australian engineering division Walkinshaw Automotive Group, developed a road-going sports modification.

The main feature of the W600 is its completely re-tuned chassis. The pickup received Koni shock absorbers with Frequency Selective Damping technology, a stiffer 22 mm rear anti-roll bar, new steering tuning, and a sporty suspension calibration.

The car is equipped with 20-inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV tires, a new front bumper, fender flares, power-retractable side steps, and two exhaust tailpipes.

The interior matches the status of the flagship version. Features include Savona leather trim, heated front seats with Walkinshaw logos, aluminum pedal covers, a multimedia system with a 12-inch screen, and a Harman Kardon audio system with eight speakers.

However, the engine's technical specifications remained unchanged. Under the hood is a standard 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel, developing 247 hp and 600 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system.
