KamAZ has launched the production of axles for K3 and K5 generation trucks in Naberezhnye Chelny. The project was implemented with the support of the Industrial Development Fund.
According to the fund's press service, these are lightweight and compact units with an increased service life. The project will ensure the production of auto components for the entire KamAZ brand lineup.
The K5 axles received a one-piece cast crankcase that includes trunnions, brake calipers, and suspension brackets. This design increases the load capacity. The durability of the crankcases exceeds 6 million cycles, which is confirmed by bench tests. This figure is six times higher compared to classic stamped-welded solutions. The weight was reduced due to the different thicknesses of the crankcase walls.
The production was organized thanks to a preferential loan from the Industrial Development Fund (IDF) in the amount of 5 billion rubles at 1% per annum. Roman Petrutsa, the director of the fund, noted that with the support of the IDF, KamAZ is also developing the production of engines, cabin parts, and crankshaft blanks. About 100 projects worth 120 billion rubles have been financed under the "Auto Components" program.
