Qiji Energy, a subsidiary of CATL, has launched the largest battery swap station for heavy-duty trucks in China on the Sichuan-Chongqing-Hubei expressway. The stations are compatible with over 95% of popular truck models, and a full battery replacement takes about five minutes, significantly reducing downtime.
Each battery module has a capacity of 171 kWh, and from one to three modules can be replaced at a time. Drivers can reserve batteries and plan routes via the Qiji cloud platform, adapting the number of batteries to their current needs. CTP and thermal runaway prevention technologies ensure the safety and durability of the equipment.
According to CATL, the use of a fast battery replacement model saves between 30,000 and 60,000 yuan per year in operating costs and reduces CO₂ emissions.
By 2030, Qiji Energy plans to create a national battery replacement network of approximately 180,000 km, covering 80% of the country's freight traffic and 16 major agglomerations.
