Despite the high-profile premiere and AvtoVAZ's expectations, sales of the extended Lada Aura sedan have actually turned out to bemuch more modest than predicted. From January to August 2025, the company managed to sell only 792 cars, which averages about 100 cars per month.
Who buys Aura
At the same time, 421 copies were purchased by private buyers, and 371 cars replenished the car fleets of government agencies.
The geography of sales is unevenly distributed: most of all, Lada Aura was bought by owners in the Samara region (68 cars), Moscow (64), Tatarstan (47), the Moscow region (36) and St. Petersburg (34).
Auto experts state that this is clearly not enough for a model conceived as a representative car for municipal and state needs.
Government agencies are not interested
Maxim Kadakov, editor-in-chief of "Za Rulem", noted that AvtoVAZ's production plans for the production of 10 thousand cars per year seem unrealistic. According to him, at this rate of sales, the project's payback will be questionable.
It is especially unclear why government agencies, despite active support for the project at the official level, are in no hurry to switch to the new model.
Lada Aura debuted in Russia on November 30, 2024 and became the most expensive model of the brand with pricesfrom 2.6-2.8 million rubles.
Against the background of rumors about the termination of production, AvtoVAZ recently issued a denial, emphasizing that production continues, and sales remain stableabove 100 cars per month.
Don't discounts help?
From September 1 of this year, adirect discount on the Russian Lada Aura model began to operate.
Recommended retail prices for Aura remain the same - from 2.6 million rubles. However, from the beginning of September, customers will be able to take advantage of a direct discount of 400 thousand rubles from the set price.
