The IV generation of Changan CS75 Plus is entering the Russian market, and the main change is the appearance of all-wheel drive. This is truly a turning point for the model: the mid-size SUV segment in Russia has long been focused on 4WD equipment, and the lack of such a version previously hindered demand. Now Changan offers AWD immediately for Russia, and dealers are already receiving the first batches of cars. The cost will be announced later, but interest in the new product is felt – especially against the background of the competitor Geely Monjaro, which is sold in the Russian Federation only with all-wheel drive.
The crossover has become noticeably larger. It has increased in length by 60 mm, in width by 45 mm, and the track has increased at the front and rear. In terms of parameters, the CS75 Plus now almost coincides with the Monjaro, and even surpasses it in width. The design was developed by Klaus Zyciora, who previously worked on Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche projects. This is evident in the complex grille with the "Vertical Force" concept, extended DRLs and more focused LED optics. Lighting efficiency has increased, energy consumption has decreased, and the rear lights have received dynamic indicators and a light scenario. The doors completely cover the sills, which is especially useful in bad weather.
The interior space has been improved thanks to the 90 mm increased wheelbase. The second row has acquired heating, two angles of inclination of the backs and a tangible supply of space for the legs, shoulders and elbows. The increase in body width is directly noticeable here. The fit has become lower, so the legs of tall passengers may "hang", but in general the rear sofa has become more comfortable. The trunk has retained its volume, although it has decreased to 610 liters; the depth is almost a meter, there is an organizer and a spare tire under the floor.
The front of the cabin has changed radically. The passenger seat is made according to the Zero Gravity concept: ventilation, heating, eight massage modes and a built-in seat belt. The driver's seat is adjustable in six directions, and Pioneer speakers are built into the headrest, which become part of the 14-channel acoustics. The central tunnel has been redesigned, a physical keyboard for heating and two cup holders have appeared, and the traditional transmission selector has disappeared – now switching modes is carried out by a lever on the steering column.
The main visual detail of the cabin is a single glass panel combining three displays with a total width of more than a meter. The central screen with a diagonal of 14.6 inches provides a quick response thanks to the MTK 8675 processor, supports game mode and multimedia output for the passenger. The picture quality is high, the anti-glare works well, although fingerprints are still noticeable. The menu is translated in some places in a non-standard way, but the system as a whole is understandable and fast.
The crossover is built on the new Fangzhou platform. It gave a lower center of gravity, improved suspension kinematics and increased body rigidity. The updated two-liter Blue Core engine has become more powerful: 235 hp, 390 Nm, an extended range of maximum torque and injection under a pressure of 350 bar. The BorgWarner Vofon turbine minimizes the response delay – acceleration is confident, smooth and without dips. Acceleration to 100 km/h is declared in 7.4 seconds. It was risky to check acceleration on the Kola highway, but there was a feeling that the figure was real.
The Aisin eight-speed gearbox remained from the previous generation, but was structurally optimized to reduce losses. Shifts are soft, pauses when lowering are minimal. In mixed mode, the consumption is declared at the level of 8.8 liters, our test showed 8.5 liters with calm driving. The BorgWarner VI generation all-wheel drive connects the rear axle in 0.2 seconds, is resistant to overheating and is able to pull the crossover on slopes up to 60%. There are "Snow", "Mud" and "Sand" modes, and in "Eco" mode, the drive only works on the front axle to save fuel.
The suspension has been significantly redesigned. Longitudinal rolling has been reduced by 20%, lateral rolling by 15%. Real sensations confirm this: the car has become noticeably more assembled, does not fall into corners and confidently holds the trajectory at high speed. Handling is one of the most tangible progress of the new generation.
The interior is available in two colors – black and beige. In the beige version, the doors and panel are decorated with artificial suede, which improves tactility, but the durability of the material is still in question. The ceiling is always black, there is a panoramic roof. The new two-spoke steering column received cast keys, which look opaque during the day, but are still illuminated at night. The climate system in automatic mode prefers blowing into the legs, which offends the windshield – it tends to fog up.
Multimedia is synchronized with voice control, but command recognition is not yet ideal. Nevertheless, the functionality is huge: from controlling power windows to navigation and a panoramic roof. An interesting detail is that the right screen can show entertainment to the passenger independently of the driver.
Two versions have been prepared for Russia, differing in the level of equipment, acoustics, driver assistance systems, Zero Gravity seat and an extended set of comfort. The warranty is 5 years or 150,000 km. According to preliminary estimates of dealers, the cost of the car may approach 4 million rubles.
