At EICMA 2025 in Milan, the Chinese brand QJMotor presented one of the most discussed new products — the Café Racer EQVVS 600, also known as EQUUS. This motorcycle became a landmark event not only for the brand itself but also for the entire segment: the model demonstrates a departure from the usual image of Chinese technology as secondary and focused on copying. The EQVVS 600 is positioned as an independent design and engineering product with pronounced European ambitions.
At the same time, the roots of the project are not hidden. QJMotor has previously actively collaborated with MV Agusta, and, if desired, one can discern echoes of the MV 921S concept in the prototype's appearance. However, overall, the motorcycle is more reminiscent of the British tradition — in particular, the Norton V4CR, which never became mass-produced but left a noticeable mark in the world of neoclassical sports bikes.
Model Name and Philosophy
The name EQUUS (or the finalized designation EQVVS) comes from the Latin word equus — "horse." The manufacturer invests this name with associations of freedom, strength, and dynamics, giving it an almost mythological meaning. In official materials, the EQVVS is described as a symbol of the harmony between man and machine in the modern mechanical age. The unusual spelling of the name is intended to emphasize the uniqueness of the model and separate it from other representatives of the QJMotor lineup.
Design: European School
The appearance of the EQVVS 600 combines classic café racer proportions with modern details. The project was developed by the Italian studio C-Creative, founded by Giovanni Castiglioni, which directly affected the visual culture of the model. The motorcycle looks compact, assembled, and aggressive, while maintaining clean lines and integrity of the image.
Of particular note are the side panels, which the manufacturer figuratively compares to a baguette frame around the engine. The short tail section, the opening aluminum swingarm of complex shape, as well as the inverted fork with three-bolt traverses, form an expressive, almost sporty silhouette. Despite its bright appearance, the EQVVS 600 is essentially a middle-class naked bike.
Technology and Construction
The key element of the model is the engine. The motorcycle is based on a 561cc V4 with 16 valves, DOHC, and liquid cooling, already familiar from the SRV 600 V cruiser. The power unit develops about 69–70 hp at 10,500 rpm and approximately 53 N·m of torque at 8,000 rpm.
The engine functions as a load-bearing element and is integrated into a complex aluminum bridge frame (structural bridge frame). A similar approach is used in the design of the rear suspension. This architecture is designed to provide high rigidity with moderate weight. According to preliminary estimates, the dry weight of the motorcycle will not exceed 200 kg — a decent figure for a machine with a V4, even in the middle class.
Market Prospects
The exact timing of the EQVVS 600's release for sale, as well as the final cost and list of markets, have not yet been announced. However, an analysis of QJMotor's current pricing policy suggests that the European price will remain below 10,000 euros. For reference, you can take the SRV 600 V with the same engine, which is estimated at approximately 8,000 euros. A more complex chassis and design component of the café racer will likely increase the cost, but maintaining a competitive price tag could be a key advantage of the model.
It is expected that the serial QJMotor EQVVS 600 will appear on the market in 2026. If the stated characteristics and price are confirmed, the motorcycle may occupy a unique niche, offering customers a rare combination of a V4 engine, Italian design, and relatively affordable cost.
