Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant (UAZ) has introduced a new automation system in its production. Automated guided vehicles (AGV) have started operating on the assembly line of the enterprise, delivering components to workstations. These delivery robots operate on a five-day schedule, ensuring fast, accurate, and safe transportation of parts, which has already received positive feedback from factory employees.
The carts are guided by magnetic tapes applied to the floor, which is a key element of in-house logistics. They are equipped with an obstacle recognition system that avoids collisions, including with people, and warns of possible obstacles. These technologies improve the efficiency and safety of production processes.
Unlike some other enterprises, such as AvtoVAZ, which independently produces AGVs, UAZ is currently using such solutions to optimize logistics. Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant and other sites of the "Sollers" group do not plan to introduce a shortened work week, continuing to increase the modernization of production.
