The press service of AvtoVAZ spoke about the modern 8-valve engine that is installed on Lada Granta and Lada Iskra cars. The engine has more than 40 unique parts that distinguish it from its predecessor.
AvtoVAZ describes the 8-valve engine as follows: lightweight valves, crankshaft and camshaft, new pistons with connecting rods.
In the process of modernization, changes were made to the cylinder head, cylinder head cover with ventilation system, timing belt and a number of other components. Additionally, the anti-scuffing characteristics of the piston have been improved, which increases the reliability of operation during cold start and when driving with a cold engine.
Other notable features of the engine are its "non-interference" (in the event of a timing belt break, the pistons do not come into contact with the valves), outstanding traction (80% of torque is reached at 1000 rpm), and low maintenance requirements (valve adjustment is required no earlier than 90,000 km of mileage).
