System of payments for reporting drunk drivers in Russia turned out to be unpopular

Informants do not want to disclose their personal data to the police

The system of monetary rewards for citizens who report drunk drivers on the roads to the Ministry of Internal Affairs is currently operating in 11 regions of Russia. However, in some regions, this option turned out to be unclaimed.

For example, in Altai, a citizen could earn 5 thousand rubles for a confirmed report about a drunk driver.

In order for a citizen to receive money, he needs to obtain a set of documents from the police and submit an application for payment to the republican committee for civil defense and fire safety. It is also necessary to sign a consent to the processing of personal data. The head of the committee for the region, Yuri Leontiev, clarified that not a single appeal has been received by the structure.

The Prosecutor of the Altai Republic, Anatoly Bogdanchikov, expressed the opinion that the problem is related to the fact that not all informants want to disclose personal data.

The absence of applications for payment of remuneration was also reported in the Komi Republic and the Tyva Republic.
