Cars of the revived domestic brand "Volga" are being created in cooperation with the Chinese Geely, according to the Telegram channel "Russian Automobile etc".
According to the source, the "Volga" office will soon open in Moscow, and employees have already been recruited. A presentation of the project is also planned soon.
The Volga car lineup was presented to Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin in May last year. All models received a 188 hp gasoline engine (300 Nm) paired with a seven-speed "automatic". However, they never went on sale.
It was then planned that the production of cars would start in 2024 at the site of the Nizhny Novgorod automobile cluster, and from 2025 they were going to start assembling Volga cars in full cycle mode.
The volume of investments in the project for the production of new cars of the "Volga" brand will exceed 60 billion rubles.
