UAZ to Update Engines for SUVs by Autumn

Testing of the updated 2.7-liter, 150-horsepower gasoline engine is in its final stages

Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant (UAZ) is preparing to equip its models with modernized ZMZ Pro engines as early as mid-autumn. According to the corporate newspaper "Panorama UAZ," testing of the updated 2.7-liter, 150-horsepower gasoline engine is in its final stages at the Zavolzhsky branch of the Sollers Product Development Center. The improvements are aimed at increasing the reliability and tightness of the engine design.

The main changes concern the valve cover of the cylinder head: the number of mounting points around the perimeter and between the spark plug well openings has been increased. This improves the sealing of parts and increases the durability of the engine. The production process is controlled by a digital processing line, ensuring high assembly accuracy. The new engines will be installed on the "Patriot", "Pickup", "Profi" and "Hunter" models.

The Sollers Group, which owns UAZ, plans to invest over 16 billion rubles in the modernization of the plant by 2026.
